Lab Etiquette
And Additional Department Resources

Lab 201 is available during non-class hours and at night with a yellowcard pass. The access code is provided by the wonderful Tina McCants.

Save all of your work frequently on a flash drive, google drive, thawspace, or the New Media Server. The lab computers refresh every night, and all temporary files get deleted.

The Night Shift by Ben Rosen
If you forget your flash drive or leave any other precious items in the labs, don't freak out. NM people are usually pretty nice about returning things and missing items frequently show up again. We'd like to imagine this is the work of tiny little lab fairies, but it's more likely the ghost in room 201 just doesn't like messy college students leaving stuff lying all over the place.
Please be considerate to others working in the labs. Bring headphones for audio editing projects and don't hog multiple computers to render animation projects the night before finals are due.

Please don't bring food or drinks into the labs. Every time something gets spilled, a smile turns upside down. Equipment is expensive to replace, so keep everyone happy and just snack outside.
Please report any damaged or malfunctioning computers or equipment to Sean Singer so he can troubleshoot or find replacements as soon as possible.

A tutor is usually available certain days of the week for students to ask for help with any technical difficulties. Be sure to thank tutors for their assistance! It is also not uncommon to ask other students in the labs if you are having difficulties with a certain program. New Media students don't bite and often are more than willing to help fellow designers out.

You won't always get caught texting in class. But if you do, it's kind of awkward. So don't text in class.
